The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Lancaster, is located one block south of Lancaster Boulevard on Fern Avenue at its intersection with Milling Street in the heart of Lancaster, California. All are welcome at its services and to use the Reading Room. The church

The Sunday service is held at 10:30 a.m. during which selections are read from the King James version of the Bible and Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures. Child care is provided. Sunday School is held at 9:00 a.m. Students up to the age of 20 learn the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes and the basic application of Christian Science to every-day living.

The Wednesday service is held each week at 7:30 p.m. during which selections are read from the Bible and Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures after which members may give testimonies concerning healings and other benefits derived from the study and practice of Christian Science. Child care is provided.

A special service is held at 10:30 a.m. Thanksgiving Day at which a special lesson and the President's Thanksgiving Proclamation is read. Child care is provided.

The church also sponsors a public lecture each year at which a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship speaks on the many benefits of Christian Science, often including testimonies of healings of medical conditions, personal relationships, financial situations and other conditions of need.

Every Christian Science church has a Reading Room and ours is located at the rear entrance of the church. It is open to the public for anyone who wants to learn more about spiritual healing, and Christian Science. The reference works available are of benefit to spiritual seekers at all levels of interest, commitment, and understanding. Resources are available for study, loan, or purchase.

The Christian Science Society of Palmdale is at the southeast corner of East Avenue R-8 and 30th Street East, between Avenues R and S in Palmdale.

Our Sunday service is held at 10:30 a. m. The same selections are read around the world in Christian Science Churches and Societies, and are from the King James version of the Bible, along with correlative selections from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Sunday School is held at 9:15 a.m. for students up to the age of 20. They learn the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, and the basic application of Christian Science to every-day living.

Our Wednesday evening Testimony Meeting is held at 7:30 p.m. Again, selections are read from the King James version of the Bible, with corresponding selections from Science and Health. The second half of the meeting is open for members of the congregation to give testimonies of healings and other benefits from the study and practice of Christian Science. Childcare is provided.

We also have a service on Thanksgiving Day, held at 10:00 a.m. During this spiritual feast special selections from the Bible and Science and Health are read, as is the President's Thanksgiving Proclamation. A portion of this service is also open for Christian Scientists to give testimonies appropriate for the occasion.

Annually, usually in September or October, the Palmdale Society sponsors a "Table in the Park" at McAdam Park, located on 30th Street East between Palmdale Boulevard and East Avenue R. Call us for the next scheduled date.

We also frequently sponsor public lectures about Chrisian Science and spiritual healing. A member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship talks about Christian Science, some of its history, and how it is applied to everyday life, usually including healings of medical conditions, personal relationships, financial situations, and other conditions of need.

Our Reading Room is accessed through the front or east door of the building. It is open to anyone who wants to learn more about Christian Science and spiritual healing. There is information available for spiritual seekers at all levels of interest, commitment, and understanding. Resources are available for study, loan, or purchase.

LANCASTER HISTORICAL SKETCH

1917 - The Christian Scientists of Lancaster met in a private home to read the Lesson - Sermon. With increased attendance, services were moved to a hall.

1924 - Christian Science Society of Lancaster was organized.

1926 - A church building at 915 Date Avenue was purchased.

1931 - Dedication services were held.

1937 - On May 24th this Society became First Church of Christ Scientist, Lancaster, California.

1946 - Lots were purchased for a new edifice at the corner of Fern Avenue and Milling Street.

1947 - The Church was incorporated December 9th under the laws of the State of California.

1952 - The construction of the Church began.

1953 - On March 8th the first service was held in the new building.

1959 - The Church was dedicated.

1987 - Construction was completed on the Reading Room Sunday School, and Child Care Room.

PALMDALE HISTORICAL SKETCH

1956 - We became recognized by The Mother Church as "Christian Science Society, Palmdale, California."

1958 - The Society was incorporated June 16, 1958 under the laws of the State of California.

1960 - Our Reading Room is located in our church building.

The Society has no indebtedness.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Christian Science Society, Palmdale, invites you to attend our annual "Table in the Park" at McAdam Park on Saturday, September 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are giving away books, including children's books! Free books!

McAdam Park is located on 30th Street East between Palmdale Boulevard and East Avenue R, on the west side of the street. You will find our tables near the children's sandbox and play area.

If you would like more information, please visit our church at 3030 East Avenue R-8. We are at the southeast corner of 30th East and R-8. Sunday services are held at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday evening services are held at 7:30 p.m., where people give testimonies about healings they have had using the ideas given in the books we are handing out.
